Nicola, the wine and the vineyard #4

Fourth page of my journal. My work, my projects and the bottles that excited me.

Nicola, the wine and the vineyard #4

In the vineyard: the most important moment of the year.

The harvest started a few days ago. I started with the Chardonnay of Cru Campiani Ovest. Maturation is perfect today: about fifteen days later than in lower vineyards.

For me, the balance that must be found in this moment of harvesting between ripeness and acidity is very important. This balance must be sought every year based on the number of bunches that have reached maturity without any forcing.

In the cellar: my first real tasting room.

Despite having over 1000 visitors to the winery this year, believe it or not, I've never had a tasting room. A "real" tasting room, at least.

All the passionate drinkers who have visited me have tasted my wines on the veranda: an open veranda which, although romantic, is a little too cool in some months of the year.

I decided to close it with windows and thus make visits to the cellar pleasant even during the slightly colder days. The works are almost finished, and I'll wait for you in the cellar!

Visiting Michele: the Natural Wine Library inaugurated in San Felice del Benaco.

This month the Natural Wine Library was inaugurated: the new wine shop of his friend Michele Bontempi in San Felice del Benaco. We breathed a fantastic atmosphere on the evening of the opening, and we were reminded (even we who always repeat it) that wine is above all about sharing.

It's really cool for me to see how the philosophy of artisanal wine is intriguing more and more people. This new awareness stimulates me to continue the work that I started years ago. Thank you all!

Obviously at the Natural Wine Library you can also find some of my bottles...
come and see Michele if you are in the area!
