Thirteenth page of my journal. I'll tell you about my May: we are in the flowering and fruit setting phase, I participated in the JUICE IT UP podcast, I went to the mountain pastures with Ferdy and we concluded the last Gatta's Privé.

In the vineyard: Flowering
are in the flowering stage.
This phase is very delicate, climatic situations such as excessively strong winds, downpours and thunderstorms can compromise the regular course of flowering and consequently the yield in number of grapes.
Flowering: the dormant buds then give rise to flowers. Flowering can occur from April to June, depending on the position of the vine and the external climate. The flowers of the vine are hermaphrodites and pollination takes place thanks to the blowing of the wind which carries the pollen from one plant to another.
The continuous climate change that we are observing is a challenge for the Vigneron's activity within the vineyard. Luckily the weather has been kind this year: we dodged some hailstorms and survived the unusual drought of this spring.
In the Alp: An amazing experience with Ferdy
This month we had a fantastic experience together with Ferdy in the mountain pastures.
Ferdy is the founder of the Agriturismo Ferdy in Val Brembana. This mountain reality brings together under a single umbrella, or "Ferdy Wild" a vast array of important topics for the area such as hospitality, dairy production and distribution of natural wines.
We accompanied Ferdinando (aka "Ferdy") to a mountain pasture in Val d'Inferno for a few days and it was a very intense experience in symbiosis with nature. We only ate what we managed to gather around us: we went in search of wild herbs and caught our dinner.
This wonderful experience, very far from our daily life, has given us a new awareness of man's role in his relationship with nature.
Thank you Ferdy for this amazing experience!
Podcast: I participated to the JUICE IT UP project.
JUICE IT UP is an Italian project that collects stories and experiences about who is innovating the Italian food and wine sector. For episode 53, I was invited to talk about Gussago, my wine and my Terroir and during the episode we also talked about the Classic Method but not only.MORE BUBBLES, LESS BOLLOCKS:
