Nicola, the wine and the vineyard #18

Eighteenth page of my journal. I'll tell you about our October: moments of waiting in the cellar and in the vineyard while the visits to the cellar continue, we organize what is necessary for a ME.GA. Christmas. You are my cellar. Thank you!

In the vineyard: last harvests

In the cellar we are awaiting the first results of this particular vintage.

The fermentations have taken place completely and the wines are now proceeding with their evolution. The essential for our wines is the rest in wood barrels which allows a correct evolution of acidity.

In the vineyard: vegetative rest and digging the soil over

Climate change is also reflected in our vineyard.

Seasonal temperatures are higher than expected and this leads to a delay in the vegetative rest phase. The vines should already be bare, but in reality only in the last two or three days have we started to see some leaves falling.

-
Vegetative Rest: This refers to the inversion of the sap flow, which passes from the periphery to the roots, this allows the plant to gather energy for next spring and grow vigorously.
-

In the vineyard a digging of the land is performed. This operation allows you to aerate the soil and promote better root work for the 2023 season.

With calm and tranquillity, the vines go to rest and the land is arranged in order to have the best conditions for next year

Thank you. Thank you. And thanks again.

The 2022 season of cellar visits is sold out.

We would like to thank all of you who, with passion and curiosity, come to discover Gussago and its unique terroir one piece at a time. We will soon publish the dates for the 2023 season!
