Nicola, the wine and the vineyard #22

Twenty-second page of my journal. Let me tell you about our February: investments in the present to obtain tangible results in the future. You are my cellar. Thank you

In the cellar: early spring disgorging

In February we anticipated the spring disgorgements by about three weeks, so as to increase the contact period with the cork. But that's not all, we have started a new phase of experimentation: refermentation in the bottle with a cork.

Our goal is to continue experimenting and trying to develop all the multiple nuances related to the Classic Method, as well as trying to test all the possible intensities that the terroir can offer.

In the vineyard: restoration and arrangement of the terraces completed

It was a month of waiting: we concluded the pruning on the existing vineyards, we completed the restoration and arrangement of the terraces and finally we began the expansion of the Cru Campiani Est. We hope that all this will favor a growth of the surface of the vineyard by about 45%.

Yet another confirmation that the investments of the present foresee a tangible return in market terms not before 10-12 years. But believing in the terroir also goes through this. If you don't start investing in the vineyard, you can't think of obtaining future development in the bottle.
The future requires planting vineyards that have a strong meaning for the cellar, both from the point of view of the creation of new crus and from that of improving existing vineyards, which can become more productive and give better quality grapes.
