Nicola, the wine and the vineyard #44

Fourtyforth page of my journal. Here’s a little recap of our February: we completed two new installations between Cudula and Santissima, made some updates to the work in the cellar, and, most importantly, a huge thank you for all the love you show us with your visits, which are growing more and more! At the bottom of this email, you’ll find the "What to drink" section. Every month, I’ll tell you which bottle I’d open!

In the vineyard: NEW INSTALLATIONS CUDULA & SANTISSIMA

As the vineyard slowly wakes up, we’ve just finished planting two new parcels that add even more depth to our work on the hills of Gussago.

The first one is on Cudula, facing east: 14 terraces and 1,500 Chardonnay vines planted on light clay soil, rich in limestone and gypsum. A valuable expansion that will bring fresh energy to this ridge, enhancing Chardonnay’s mineral soul.

The second is on Santissima, facing west, where we planted Pinot Noir on three terraces, around 750 vines, in a cooler, less sun-drenched spot. Here, we envision a dialogue between variety and landscape, reclaiming historic terraces that had been abandoned for too long.

Bringing new life to these places goes beyond the vineyard, it’s about memory, culture, and our vision of terroir.

IN the cellar: last spots available for visits:

These weeks, we’re focused on finalizing the cuvéesthat we’ll be bottling in 2025. It’s all about balance and precision, bringing last year’s harvest full circle while already looking ahead to the next steps.

The most important thing we want to say is: thank you.
Our cellar visits keep selling out, and seeing so much enthusiasm, curiosity, and passion for our work is truly amazing.

For those who’d like to book, there are just a few spots left:

What to drink:

Right now, I would open

🍾 400 RD - EXTRA BRUT disgorgement 2022

Why? Well...

This time of year, the days get longer, the sun starts shining again, and even the wines seem to wake up. 400 R.D., with its relaxed energy and well-defined character, feels just right for this moment.

Right now, this bottle is showing beautiful harmony, it's found its balance a couple of years after disgorgement.

"Where to Drink" is the page where you’ll find a list of friends who serve my wines.
