Nicola, the wine and the vineyard #8

The first page of the New Year. The first new year of this journal. I have decided to leave on this first page of the year, as I would in a paper diary, the notes of what has happened in the last exceptional 12 months.

Nicola, the wine and the vineyard #8

January- February

Winter pruning in the vineyard.
In the cellar, important considerations on the cuvée.
Behind the scenes the preparation of the ME.GA. Drinkers club

March

We have opened theME.GA. Drinkers Club, and 500 seats were sold out in less than an hour.
We also open visits to the cellar after a long break.

In the vineyard the first buds and the first timid rays of the sun.
In the cellar the spring disgorgement.

My first 3 RDs come out: Blanc de blancs, Blanc de noirs and Rosé.

April - May

Concern for spring frosts, especially in Cru Sabadina, but fortunately everything went smoothly. In the cellar the delicate bottling of the 2021 cuvées.

On May 24th the first MINI ME.GA. Zoom Course for ME.GA. Drinkers on the subject of "when it's time to open a bottle".

June

The new tonneaux arrive in the cellar and this diary begins too, with the first page sent by email to more than 3,000 enthusiasts like you.

on June 4 the first Gatta's Privè in history: 12 ME.GA. Drinkers in the cellar for an evening of unique tastings and sharing.

on June 15th an important event for the future of my cellar: together with my friend Stefano we laid the foundations for the birth of the Cru Santissima, in front of a bottle of Champagne Al Carroponte.

July- August

Again concern for the vineyard, but fortunately the passing hailstorm did not cause serious damage.

on July 2 the first outing in the countryside: 4 fearless ME.GA.Drinkers booked the first tour of the vineyards aboard the recently refurbished Campagnola!

Third and final chapter of the MINI ME.GA. Course: "the wine behind the bubble: identity and terroir".

September

Welcome harvest! A beautiful vintage in which we also harvest from the new Crus.
In the cellar we dedicate ourselves to experimentation and autumn disgorgements.

Our new tasting room is finally complete!

My CCs come out: bubble-free wines that communicate the terroir in a clear and direct way.

October- November

In the cellar the fermentations (slightly slower than usual) are complete. A new member of the family also arrives: Romeo! A beautiful Bernese Mountain dog puppy.

We complete all shipments to restaurants and wine shops and get ready for the event that will close the year.

End of the year

We really close with a flourish with the Ciao ME.GA. event.

On 18th December almost 200 enthusiasts passed through the cellar braving the cold and fog to share a beautiful evening and best wishes for a good start to the year.

I only opened magnums for Omar, who arrived from Bologna with Ciao Kebab, kept us company with his fantastic street food.

Gratitude is the greatest feeling of 2021. We have made many sacrifices in the vineyard and in the cellar, but they have all been repaid by your enormous love!

Thank you all!
Thank you!
