Thirty-eighth page of my journal. I'll tell you about our August: the harvest started early due to the drought, but the grapes are healthy and promising. In the vineyard: HARVEST

This year, we had to bring the harvest forward due to the prolonged drought that characterized the months of July and August. There was almost no rainfall, forcing the vines to ripen faster than usual. This has led us to harvest the grapes with greater attention to the alcohol content, which is fundamental for our sparkling wines, which require a precise balance for refermentation in the bottle.

Despite the stress the plants went through, the grapes we harvested turned out to be healthy and of excellent quality, even though the quantity wasn’t extraordinary. This year reminds us that we can no longer rely on fixed patterns: every season brings a different challenge, and we must constantly adapt to the changing climate. Embracing these changes and learning to work with them is essential to continue producing wines that truly reflect the unique terroir of Gussago.
