Forty-niners page of my journal. Here’s a little update from our July: we’re getting ready for harvest, the final stretch is just around the corner! Tickets are available for MEGAFRIENDS25, and this year, we’ve got some exciting new surprises waiting for you. Scroll to the bottom of this email for the “What to Drink” section, each month, I’ll tell you which bottle I’d open!

In the vineyard: final phase
In the vineyard, we’re right in the thick of the final phase: on many vines, the color change is already complete, and ripening is well underway; the grapes are doing great, really great. At the end of July, we had some storms, but luckily no hail, just good rain that refreshed the vines without causing any damage. Temperatures have dropped, and now we’re seeing milder highs with significant day-to-night swings.
It’s exactly these temperature swings that make all the difference: on Pinot Noir, but also on Chardonnay, they bring out clearer, finer, and deeper aromas.
We’ve been quiet about it so far, but now it’s time to speak up: 2025 really looks like it’s shaping up to be a fantastic vintage. Balanced quantity, high quality, and vines in top form!
IN the cellar: MEGAFRIENDS25
Everything in the cellar is on pause. We’re working quietly, watching the vineyard, and getting ready for the harvest.Meanwhile, tickets for MEGAFRIENDS have been flying off the shelves, and there aren’t many left.

What to drink:
Right now, I would open:🍾 R.D. Quattrocento - disgorgement january 2025
Why this one? Here’s why:
It’s a young disgorgement but built on a base that’s had a long time aging on the lees. The wine is taut, which makes it a rare treat to drink right now. What’s special about opening it now is the contrast: depth on one side, freshness on the other. The fruit is pure, and the terroir always shines through. At this moment, this is exactly the bottle I’m craving to pop open.
